“Anticipated Biopic ‘Michael’ Chronicles the Life and Legacy of Michael Jackson, Starring Nephew Jaafar Jackson in the Lead Role”

Lionsgate’s upcoming biopic, “Michael,” dedicated to the life and legacy of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, has generated significant anticipation. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film will feature Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s 27-year-old nephew and the son of Jermaine Jackson, in the lead role.

Jaafar Jackson was chosen after an extensive global casting search, with director Antoine Fuqua expressing excitement about Jaafar’s ability to authentically portray Michael and his compelling on-screen presence.

The biopic’s storyline will cover Michael Jackson’s journey from his early years with the Jackson 5, with 9-year-old Juliano Krue Valdi cast to portray the young Michael. Colman Domingo, known for his roles in Oscar-nominated films, will play the role of Joe Jackson, the patriarch of the Jackson family.

Director Antoine Fuqua, known for his work on “The Equalizer” trilogy and acclaimed documentaries, highlighted the profound influence of Michael Jackson on his career. The film’s script, penned by Oscar nominee and Tony winner John Logan, aims to provide an epic, cinematic portrayal of Jackson’s triumphs, challenges, and creative genius.

Katherine Jackson, Michael’s mother, has expressed her approval of the film, praising Jaafar for embodying her son and continuing the Jackson legacy. Principal photography for the biopic is scheduled to commence in January 2024.

While an official release date is yet to be announced, the film promises to offer audiences an intimate look into the life of one of the most influential and iconic figures in the history of music.
